With a sponge or a vegetable brush, scrub away any remaining wax. While holding each lemon under cool, flowing water, carefully scrape the wax off using the abrasive side of a clean, unused sponge. Alternately, scrape in tiny circles with a vegetable brush.

Since wax is frequently practically invisible, it might be challenging to determine when you have eliminated all traces of it. To ensure that all of it is gone, give each lemon a thorough scrub for 30 to 60 seconds at a time.

Do not use a brush or sponge that has been used to clean dishes. The fruit’s peel could become contaminated if soap or food particles from the brush fall onto the fruit.

The lemons should be washed in cool water and dried with paper towels. To get rid of any remaining wax, give the fruit one last rinse. After that, use a paper towel or kitchen towel to gently and wipe each lemon dry. They are prepared for usage.

Alternately, you may lay a towel over your lemons and let them air dry on the counter for approximately an hour.

Lemons should be kept in the refrigerator for a minimum of two days if not immediately used. Lemons that haven’t been waxed typically go bad faster than waxed lemons.

On a platter that is microwave-safe, put the lemons. Paper towels should be used to line any plate or dish that is microwave-safe. Then place the lemons on the dish in a single layer.[5] If at all possible, place them without contacting one another.

Do not pile the lemons up on the platter. Stacking them may cause uneven heating, which can make it challenging to completely remove the wax.

Lemons should be heated for 10 to 20 seconds on high. Put the fruit platter in the microwave. If you’re only dewaxing a few lemons, run the microwave on high for 10 seconds; if you’re dewaxing more, run it for 20 seconds.[6] The wax is melted with the use of the microwave’s heat. It will be simpler to scrape the wax off the peel once it has melted.

Fruit should be scrubbed with cool running water. Holding each lemon under a cool faucet, lightly scrape the peel with a vegetable brush or a clean, unused sponge.[7] Scrub the entire surface of the lemon for 30 to 60 seconds in small, circular strokes to remove all the wax.

Use only brushes or sponges that haven’t come into contact with any soap or other chemicals.
